Just like this saying, he who wears the shoe know where it pinches him, I have been experiencing discrimination and it have been devastating in my quest to survive and without doubt, it is the same to every African with disabilities. I have ever wished for an enabling environment or a level play ground to showcase my potentials but negative attitude of public towards me stood so tall. So, after sharing experiences with other persons with disabilities; it become necessary that a forum should be instituted to address these issues, since it has not been able to gain appropriate attention of the legislative and executive arms of government. We decided to sensitize the public because if they became informed about the issues of disability, they will learn to respect persons with disabilities and incorporate them fully into the mainstream of the society, which will consequently reduce street begging among persons with disabilities. |
